Multiple leaks had confirmed that the Moto S30 Pro would arrive globally as the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion. A Geekbench listing and multiple certifications confirmed said leaks. The device is now official alongside the Motorola Edge 30 Neo and Edge 30 Ultra. It is a middle-of-the-pack offering that aims to strike a balance between price and performance.
The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion can take on many modern-day smartphones with its 6.5-inch FHD+ pOLED panel. It has a refresh rate of 144 Hz, 402 PPI pixel density, and supports HDR10+. An under-display fingerprint sensor is also included. That, combined with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC should make for an unparalleled gaming experience, although the chipset is known to thermal throttle under demanding workloads. The included 4,400 mAh supports 68 W fast charging, putting it on par with modern-day affordable flagships.
Memory and storage options on the Motorola Edge 30 Fusion are limited to 8 GB and 128 GB with no possibility to expand the latter. Connectivity options include 5G (dual-SIM), Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6 and NFC. The smartphone runs Android 12 out of the box and will receive two major software updates and three years of security patches. That said, Motorola has a spotty track record with software updates, so one should tread with caution.
The Motorola Edge 30 Fusion packs a bog-standard camera setup with a 50 MP (f/1.8) sensor at the helm. It supports OIS (optical image stabilization) and is accompanied by a 13 MP (f/2.2) ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2 MP telephoto lens. Video recording capabilities max out at 4K 30 FPS for the main and ultra-wide-angle lens. The former can also record slow-motion video at 960 FPS, but at HD resolution. Lastly, a 32 MP sensor handles selfies and video calls.
The Moto Edge 30 Fusion is offered in multiple colour variants, namely Cosmic Grey, Aurora White, Solar Gold, and Neptune Blue. A Vegan Leather plus Aurora White version is also available. It will be available for purchase in Europe now for EUR 600 (US$600).
