Photography has really taken off in the past few years, and companies have responded to the market’s need to improve or supplement the capabilities of cameras. From monopods to camera modules, there’s definitely something for any photographer who wants to up their game.

Arducam is one of the companies that specialize in providing camera solutions. Recently,  they introduced their new High-Resolution Autofocus Camera Module for Raspberry Pi. This module has two-and-a-half times the megapixel count of the v2 camera and a 40% bump in resolution over the HQ camera. If you’re looking for the power to construct future-proof applications with your Raspberry Pi, this camera module is for you.

The community of Arducam has spoken, and the company is here to deliver it with an added autofocus to its Raspberry Pi cameras. Now, users can use this camera in their existing projects or create new ones thanks to the traditional V1/V2 form-factor.

Even though the HQ Camera has a larger pixel count, the “quality” of the new camera is far superior. Arducam’s new module outperforms the Raspberry Pi HQ camera in every way, thanks to the use of the foundation’s camera tuning methods. To aid the advancement of the Raspberry Pi and embedded ML/MV, this camera will be open source in every way possible.

For the past ten years, Arducam has been developing camera solutions, and the Raspberry Pi is and has planned to mass-produce their product. They’ve had a successful Kickstarter and Indiegogo run that just closed last month. While they did plan to ship out during the beginning of the year, just like all hardware around the world, they also have been affected by the global chip shortages. However, they said that they are exerting their best efforts to bring the product to their customers.
